Homemade Braided Sesame Bread

Why do I not make homemade bread more often?  It tastes - SO GOOD!  We went to church, the girls had volleyball practice, and Marcy and Brent had our family over for prime rib and we shared our homemade braided sesame bread.  Brent can make a killer smoked prime rib on his pellet grill!  Now I am on the search for a good multi-grain flour to make homemade multi-grain bread on Christmas day.  Do you have a certain brand of multi-grain flour that you like?

Have a great Monday!

Newborn Photoshoot with my Niece Mila Lou

Mila (pronounced Mee - luh) is two weeks old and completely adorable.  I had been communicating with my sister, Marcy, over the last week about taking Mila's newborn photos.  There are so many gorgeous photos on Pinterest, however; this time I was scrolling through Facebook and saw a sponsored post with a newborn photo that I clicked on called MEG BITTON LIVE.  This inspired me to start researching how to get a light, bright, and airy photo, so the preparation began.  Lightroom is the program I use to edit photos and I wanted to find light, light, bright, and airy presets.  Presets speed up the post processing time spent editing photos.  I googled "FREE Lightroom Presets" and somehow I stumbled upon the Amy & Jordan Blog.  They offer all kinds of great photography resources and they have nailed the light, bright, and airy effect.  I know my photos are not perfect and I wish I had Amy & Jordan and Meg Bitton standing there with me helping me figure out how to better use my Canon 7D, I will keep dreaming of that moment!

So, without further ado, here are the photos I took today:

HAIR

I recently volunteered to be a blowout model for Paisley & Stripe West.  They occasionally offer this type of opportunity as a training session for their stylists.  My stylist was, Britney Stephens and you can book an appointment with her at 785-551-7222 or online at Paisley & Stripe West.  So, I thought is would be fun to have great hair for the day and it was a good reason to wear my fun Banana Republic leopard dress!  Here is their new Spring version.  I am ready to see my good friend, Karen, this week as we sip on wine and have a chef cook Spanish Tapas for us!  Happy Sunday! - Carrie

Happy Valentine's Day

I went on a run with my friend Lisa, took my daughters to get donuts for breakfast, stopped by my friend Sarah's house to give her a birthday hug, Dallas my hubby is bringing sushi home for dinner tonight, I have a load of laundry going...aaaahhh, it's been a pretty good day!

I love documenting things.  Last week I pulled out my baby book my mom made for me and I pulled out Chaney's baby book to see how we compared in height at the age of 11.  Chaney is 3 inches taller than me at the same age.  I love that my kids are still growing and changing and the wonder of what they will look and be like some day.  As we were looking through Chaney's book, I had written about the day we brought her home from the hospital and were greeted by my mom/Grammy, her mom/Great Granny, and my sister Aunt Wendy.  This immediately started that lump in my throat, the tears welled up in my eyes, Chaney looks at me and says, "don't cry, now I'm going to cry."  So we both cried.  I told her, "it was such a special day and memory." When I went to go find her baby book to write this post, I was looking for the picture of this, but then realized, that image I had in my head is a memory and not a photo.  It's amazing how strong that memory is.  Do you have a photo or memory that gets you every time?

Over the next several weeks I plan on sharing about our journey to build our new home that is still under construction.  Hoping to figure out how to share pictures better as I am new to this blogging program.

Thank you for all of the facebook and blog love and comments yesterday!

Back to Blogging

Hello my friends!

I'm back!  Wow, that was a long hiatus!  Lots has happened since I stopped blogging April 2014 on FashionableWay.com (which no longer exists on the worldwide web). I am traveling for work today and arrived at the Dallas Lovefield airport before 8 AM. I was craving Whataburger and when I sat down to eat, I decided it was time to set up a new blog. I hope you will follow along. 😁

Sincerely,
Carrie
